I'm hoping we may have found someone to take on the Meeting House library. I love books but the sort of books this particular library contains (books of theology and devotion by 20th century chaps in tweed jackets) are among my least favourite kind.

I was inclining towards putting roses in the recovered flower bed- but that was before I saw that Sainsbury's were selling big boxes of bulbs for £4.50 each.

The box I bought contains:

19 Allium Moly Yellow
1 Dahlia Topmix Purple
2 Lilium Oriental "Fenice" Apricot
6 Ranunculus Orange.

I'll plant them in March, they ought to flower through the summer- and that's exactly what we want.

I'm weary. It's been a busy winter all ways round- and I think my mother's funeral may have taken more out of me than I thought it was going to...

I'm really glad we don't have a meeting house to worry about. We just rent a room in a local village hall and our meeting library consists of about 6 books.

Re feeling weary, didn't you have covid not that long ago? Most of the people I know who've had it say that the after-effects linger for months, the chief one being that you get tired more easily and more quickly than normal.

Yes, that's true- I have had covid- and also something that probably wasn't covid but was equally debilitating...

I like the Meeting House. There were those this past summer, when things were at a very low ebb, who wanted to disburden themselves of it- but nobody's talking that way now. I could dispense with the library, though...

Our meeting has never had a meeting house. Originally it met in the house of the couple who began it, but when her husband died, we persuaded the surviving founder member that there were lots of advantages in having the meeting in a neutral location.

There are pros and cons to having a meeting house. Unfortunately many are becoming a burden because the cost of repairs and maintenance is more than the meeting house can bring in via renting it out to other groups. Add to that the aging and dwindling membership and it's no wonder many meetings are selling them off.
