All Our Pomps Of Yesterday

I did consider watching the Thames regatta but then the tennis claimed my attention. I caught a glimpse of the very end. There  was a misty view of Tower Bridge through a lens spotted with raindrops, the ships were hooting and wailing and the Queen was hurrying ashore under cover off a see-though umbrella.

The BBC's website had a series of images of the affair, yesterday. One was of four ladies sitting atop the embankment under umbrellas, with a dreary rain falling on an even drearier River Thames. I thought it most appropriate.
