Chilblains
Feb. 22nd, 2012 10:55 amAilz has chilblains. I thought that's what they were- and now her podiatrist confirms it. I have them too, I think, though I haven't had them diagnosed. Chilblains are caused by nerves getting themselves frozen to death, so we need to work harder at keeping our feet warm.
We spend much of the day in a room with an unreconstructed wood floor. Very picturesque, very draughty. I've imported a mat from the front room (where it's not needed) to cover up some of the gaps between the boards.

Date: 2012-02-22 11:12 am (UTC)My home is probably smaller than yours, so I can keep the whole house at an even temperature - and add a thick jumper and tights - and I haven't had chilblains since I moved here, although they've been a nightmare all my life

Date: 2012-02-22 12:12 pm (UTC)Our house is big and rambly, though not as draughty as it once was. We've been trying to keep the heating bills down- which probably accounts for the chilblains.

There are socks with thermal properties that you might look into. They're made for hunters and outdoors people and really work.
