In my earlier post about Andy Coulson I missed out something important. The News of the World- which he edited at the time of the  phone-tapping scandal- is owned by  The Emperor of the World  Rupert Murdoch. This goes a long way towards explaining (a) why Cameron hired him and (b) why the scandal was and is being handled with kid gloves.

Oh, don't cross out The Emperor of the World. If Rupert Murdoch isn't it, it's certainly what he aspires to be.
