There was already snow on the ground. Then it snowed during the night. And now it's snowing some more. Ailz says this is the most snow we've had since 1974. Did nobody tell the Cloud Man that this planet is meant to be warming up?

Yes it is strange. Last June remained cold and wet right into the first week of July. The summer was short with cooler temperatures returning by mid-August. This winter has been January-cold in December, and we have had more than the usual amount of snow - and ice. It is hard to accept the concept of global warming in view of weather-evidence to the contrary.

I've had my doubts about global warming for a while now- and they're hardening.

As I understand it, there is increased moisture globally due to the melting of the glaciers, so more snow, but still global warming.

Although I also understand this is why they've recast it as "climate change", because people don't understand the complexity of global weather/temperature patterns, and the point is that it is changing in a dramatic and potentially dangerous way.

Maybe.

I suspect they're recasting it because the evidence (which they've been cooking) is going against them.

I've been a sceptic for a while- and my doubts are hardening.

We're also getting weather conditions that haven't been the norm here since the early 1970s, or so the older guys at the Masons lodge told my DH. Well over two feet of snow, two ice storms, overnight temps down into the single digits Fahrenheit (it got down to 5F Saturday night), and it's barely January. Brrrr!

it's been snowing gently but persistently all day- and the snow is lying much thicker now than it was when I took the picture this morning.

The whole planet seems to be topsy turvy. As I mentioned yesterday we have had more than half our annual rainfall in just under three weeks time.

The photo has such a lovely pattern!

Thanks. The pattern was there. I just went out and found it.

If this is global warming I'll eat my flowery wellies. I've got pretty sceptical about the whole thing. See "Cool It - the Skeptical Environmentalist's Guide to Global Warming" by Bjorn Lomborg for an analysis of what is really happening and what should be our response to it.

One of the problems is the "average" temperatures on that single hockey stick graph bear no relation to what is happening anywhere.

I've been following Christopher Booker in The Telegraph- a crusty, old, right-wing maverick who knows a thing or two. He's an implacable foe of those he calls the "warmists".

They're forecasting -20 for us up here this weekend. The snow was a pleasant novelty for the first week or so, but now it's getting a little bit wearing.

Minus 20- That's cold!

Ailz measured our snow this evening. We've had ten inches.

It looks like northern Europe is set for its coldest winter for thirty years.
