First thing this morning, while we were making breakfast, I put on the CD of Bruce Springsteen's Seeger Sessions. Normally I drag round the kitchen, moaning and groaning; this morning I was dancing a jig.

Yes, really- "fitting it heel and toe".

This is the Boss reacting to Bush and the Bush years and saying,"there's a deeper finer, American tradition than the one you represent."

Only it comes out as "old Dan Tucker was a dirty old man/ Washed his face in the frying pan." Gorgeous!  Just gorgeous!

There's a spirit moving in the land...

It's so celebratory.

Sounds like a group of friends just playing for the heck of it- which, I gather- is pretty much the truth.

I am of two minds about this music. I am a BIG Pete Seeger fan and Bruce's version of Shenandoah should be, IMHO, made to go away.

But that someone of his stature should pay homage to someone of Seeger's stature is totally fitting.

And it's a FOLK album.

I've always been in two minds about Seeger- loved the man and what he stands for, never been too keen on his singing style. I like my folk to have a rougher edge than he gives it.
