[livejournal.com profile] purchas is taking over my life.

I lie awake at night worrying how to get her from A to B.

I'm on the final stretch. I've written 40,000 words. Another 20,000 (or something like) and I'm done.

20,000 words- How hard can that be?

I'm thinking there'll probably be a sequel...

i hope so; it seems like the story would naturally have to go on until present day. maybe not continuously, though... you could skip around to the times you like best. you could even go backward, if you wanted. the storytelling possibilities for your premise are somewhat comicbook-like; purchas will always have an adventure you haven't yet told.

Yes. I've got something here I can keep going back to.

There are certain historical eras I'd really like to play around in.

I expect the next story to be set in the 1530s.

Wait a minute! Wait a minute! You're just getting warmed up.

And how are you going to get her from the ship's hold to the hawthorne bush in 20,000 words?

Why must you write every day?

Good question.

Simply because it's the task I've set myself. If I took a break now I'd feel I'd let myself down

What if you finished this go-round and set yourself a new task that doesn't tether you to the keyboard quite so badly? Otherwise, you may find Purchas going on pilgrimage to someone else's LJ!

I think I'll probably write another Purchas book. But I won't do it at the break neck pace that I've set myself with this one.

And I won't start posting the results until it's either finished or far advanced.

I agree!
How can it end so soon?
You have centuries of her life to work on!

Ah well, I'm hoping there'll be sequels. It's just this 15th century episode that's drawing to an end.

but yes- this is a character with a heckuva lot of story to sell. we`re talking- saga.

Yes. I'm thinking "saga" too.

The next book will probably be set in the 1530s- Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn and the Reformation and all that.
