All Our Pomps Of Yesterday

I did consider watching the Thames regatta but then the tennis claimed my attention. I caught a glimpse of the very end. There  was a misty view of Tower Bridge through a lens spotted with raindrops, the ships were hooting and wailing and the Queen was hurrying ashore under cover off a see-though umbrella. 

Waiting

Alice has gone into into hospital to have the baby. We drove down this afternoon with a view to getting in everybody's way. We're in a Leicester hotel now (actually outside the city, near the village of Broughton Astley)- waiting for news.
