Yes, there are still some leaves in place.

This is a little belt of woodland I traipse through on my way to Sainsbury's or the railway station. There's a factory on one side (they often have noxious bonfires out in the yard) and a road on the other, but if you angle the camera right you can imagine you're in the Forest of Arden.

What is Sainsbury's?

I wish we had a railway station. If I could ditch my car, I'd be rich!

Beautiful blue sky.

I have a wild cherry tree by the back door, and it still has a few leaves, and last week had lots of red berries, but the birds settled in and in one day stripped it of every berry.

Sainsbury is a supermarket chain- a rather up-market one. They have recently opened a branch in the town centre. Their mince pies are the best.

Thanks. So you walk there?

In the movie Iris (so beautifully played by Judi Dench), Iris and her husband went shopping at a grocery store and were offered a "bag for life," which appeared to be sturdy plastic.

"Bag for life? Do we deserve it?" asked Iris's husband.

"We have to ask," explained the clerk.

"I should say we would like a bag for life!" he said then.

Does your grocery store have bags for life? We have to buy string bags if we don't want thin plastic or paper.

I walk it sometimes.

One of the supermarkets (I forget which, but it's probably Sainsbury's) offers a bag for life. You pay whatever it is for a sturdy plastic bag and whenever it wears out they replace it for free.

If you were here today, you'd imagine that you were in the Swiss Alps with Heidi. It's COLD (windchill at 5F) and snowy. And icy underfoot.

So, I'm glad you posted this picture. Arden is a far preferable place, and that sky is so blue...

We've lost the blue sky. Today is dank and overcast.

A good day to decorate for Christmas!

BTW, Amazon says that Rising Damp is going to be offered on DVD in January! I can't wait!!

I've already done my decorating. I bought two new blown-glass Christmas tree baubles yesterday to cheer myself up.

You know, I never watched Rising Damp, but I saw Frances La Tour on stage once (in a Restoration comedy with Donald Sinden.)

I wistfully request a photograph of your tree.
