Exam

Ailz was up at 5.00 and getting stuck into her poetry books.

Today is exam day.

Because she's disabled, Ailz gets to sit it at home. The invigilator arrived about fifteen minutes ago- a nice middle-aged lady, probably a former teacher, who apologised for taking two sugars in her coffee.

Before the exam began the invigilator searched the bathroom- to make sure we didn't have a copy of the Complete Works of John Keats hidden in the cistern.

And now the exam is underway and I'm skulking upstairs, trying to be mousey-quiet.

Good luck, Ailz.

I hope Ailz's exam goes well.

The OU is a wonderful institution, though I would say that, wouldn't I because I'm an OU tutor on the short course Start Writing Fiction. I just got my parcel today with the materials for the new presentation starting next month.

But then in February I become and OU student again as well because I've decided to embark on their Masters in Education.

Thanks.

I'm very taken with the OU. We have been overwhelmed to the point of embarrassment by the ammount of assistance- financial and otherwise- that Ailz has received as a disabled student.

I can actually feel that exam-tension... A bit like in high school when you waited outside in the corridor while your friend was inside with the teacher and the examinatrix... Very exciting. And nerve-wrecking.

Ailz just passed me on the staircase (on her way to the bathroom) and pulled a woeful face. That's about all the communication it's "safe" for us to have.

Best of luck to Ailz! I hope the pets are locked up so they can't be distracting.

Cheers.

Bunny had a run around the room first thing, but is now back in his cage- poor thing.

I add my best wishes, although she's probably all done with the exam now. I'm sure she'll pass with flying colours.

The thought of Keats in the cistern made me laugh.

Thanks.

It's still going on. As a disabled student she's allowed coffee breaks- which stretches the time allowed well beyond three hours.

Well it's over- and we took ourselves off to the movies as a reward.

How did Ailz feel that she did? I thought about her this morning, sent her vibes over the sea.

What movie did you see? I wish Wallace & Gromit...

Thanks for the vibes.

No our movie was Saraband- the new Ingmar Bergman- not everybody's idea of a treat.

Holding fingers for Ailz!
I feel the tension from here, can you imagine? And my (next) exams will only be in February.

How was it?

She was happy with two of the questions, but the third- on poetry- she had to bluff her way through. Still she quoted lots of different poets in her answer and from what she's told me, made some good points. I don't have too many worries about her passing.
