Transforming The Spare Room
Feb. 4th, 2014 12:26 pmThe spare room looks less like a study and more like a bedroom now. We're leaving the desk in place (actually its a dining room table) so Ailz can still do her filing in there. I swapped a photograph of my paternal grandfather sitting at his office desk for a watercolour of my maternal grandmother's wisteria-clad cottage.
I assembled the bed yesterday and the headboard slipped through my hands and landed on my toes like a blunt-edged guillotine blade. Ailz said I could swear if I liked because my mother was out of earshot and I said the worst was over so I didn't see the point.
I lay down on the mattress to test it for comfort and saw a patch of damp I hadn't spotted before creeping in from under the eaves.

(We're so tired of dealing with 'flooding' of any kind -- even the smallest spot of dampness makes us nuts. Thankfully things have been quiet in that area recently. But we're nervous almost every time it rains.)
