The wind's getting up. We just heard on the radio that they've closed the Dartford road bridge.

The queues for the check-out in Sainsbury's in Tonbridge reached half-way down the store. The staff were handing out free mince pies.

Half an hour ago I counted 19 pigeons on the front lawn- all pecking away at something or other. It was like a corner of Trafalgar Square.

The Bridge tends to have to close long before it gets anything like really up due to idiots who will insist on attempting it in high siders. We're in the same part of Kent and while it's blowy and soggy and such a day as ducks are not going out on, it's nothing like gale force as yet.

The Mail was waxing hysterical about the weather this morning- but then the Mail does.

This is a small, exposed island archipelago in the Atlantic.

It's midwinter.

We get storms.

What about this do the red tops not understand?

After all, it could be worse- it could be snow!

Same here - hate snow but hate this damp cold and windy weather too.

I think the Express is even more obsessed. Whenever I glance at their headlines they always seem to be going on about some imminent apocalypse or other (especially if it's a slow Diana day).

It's ages since I saw the Express.

It was my Grandmother's paper. I used to love Giles.

Sheppey bridge is now closed to all traffic.

That's probably wise, but that means the people of Sheppey are stranded, doesn't it?

There is the still he old bridge over to the island. I was talking about the newer road bridge which had that pile up in the fog a month back, Sorry if i did not make it clearer.
