It was funny and clever and exciting, but I just don't feel any connection to Matt Smith's Doctor or the tiresomely uxorious Ponds. I loved Moffat's writing when he was working under RTD's direction, but now he's running the show I'm feeling emotional manipulation where there used to be heart. The only episode I've really liked since he took charge was the one Neil Gaiman wrote. I don't offer this as any sort of definitive put-down. I'm happy for everyone who loves Matt Smith; but this is your era, not mine. I've got to admit Tom Baker (heresy, heresy!) didn't do much for me either. The show is bigger than any of its incarnations and I'll continue watching because I love the mythos.

Awww! You changed it!

I preferred "concupiscent". I love finding new words.

I agree on the summing-up of this one, but I'm probably fonder of Matt Smith than you are (I've had several different eras). When I was watching the episode, I mightily enjoyed it, but about an hour later I was dwelling on plotholes.

*The show is bigger than any of its incarnations.*

Hear, hear. I get the feeling you'd plump for Davison if you had to choose, though.

My son told me, "You never forget your first doctor."
For me, that was Christopher Eccleston. I wept when he was replaced by David Tennant, but I gradually -- gradually came to accept him in the role.
But Matt Smith? I feel no connection to him whatsoever and it's so very disappointing because I truly do love the show.

Kind of lost its direction methinks but still a fan of the show for the mythos surrounding it that you quite rightly pinpoint.
