Old Things

Three small boys came to the door- one of them Khan's lad. The fat, white boy is doing a school project about old coins- and they wondered if I had any- because, said Khan's lad, "We were here before and you showed us old things." Did I? I forget. Guess I'm the go-to guy for old things in this part of the world. I told them I'd look and they were to come back today. If they do they'll find I've got some Victorian coppers for them and a George III "cartwheel" penny.

That's quite heart warming - The Daily Mail would pooh pooh such a tale as the kids weren't asking you for legal tender!

Oh, that's sad. I had pictured them asking you all about the coins and you telling them some stories of the years when they were minted. If you are as good with kids of that age as you are with the little ones, then it was their loss that they failed to return.
