Isn't this amazing? The BBC article captured a bit of the sheepish puzzlement on the part of the investigating scientists. Apparently they've run the test so many times now that there is almost no hope of it being a statistical fluke.
There is persistent and -- to those concerned -- troubling evidence of bias in the universe, that supposed universal laws seem to change depending on which direction one happens to be looking. If that's the case, then your feelings may be spot on.
When you stop and think about it, Einstein was wrong about lots of things -- as indeed a good scientist should be. His thought experiment, of what it would be like to ride on a beam of light, is still amazing though, whatever comes of this latest development.
Perhaps the neutrinos are faking it. Perhaps they are not really moving at all, but just telepathically communicating to neutrinos 500 km away to ask them to jump up and down a bit as a prank.
