If you were really savvy- and expected to live another 50 years- you'd buy it all up, squirrel it away, then release it onto the antiquities market in 2060- by which time it will be amusingly quirky and very rare. You'd make a killing!

The triumph of football is a triumph of marketing

It didn't used to be. It was all about tribal loyalty in the old days when my Gran and Granddad and Great Aunty Ethel had season tickets for Manchester United and the other side of the family had season tickets for Manchester City.

I was the child of a mixed marriage, which is why my brother played rugby and the only football team we ever supported was Bury. We didn't want to alienate either side because we knew where our Christmas presents came from! :)

That tribal thing still exists- and the moneymen exploit it.

I grew up in a football-free environment- and have never really been able to understand what all the fuss is about.
