yuki_onna suggests that Demetrios means "Son of Demeter". I'm sure that's right. It's good to have a classicist in the house.
So- was Dostoevsky aware that Dmitri means "Son of the Earth Goddess" when he gave the name to his fun-lovin' Karamazov bro' or was it just a lucky hit?
