They're all interesting buildings, but the light in that last shot is beautiful.

That's down to being in the right place at the right time. That light lasted for seconds. The shots taken on either side of that one missed out on it.

There is often an element of luck in photography because the one thing you can't control (unless you're indoors in a studio!) is the light. But you took the opportunity while it was there.

I like working with bad light. It's a challenge to see what you can do with a subject in spite of it.

I love these posts.

The depth of real history that it is, more or less, at your fingertips takes my breath away.

Quite obviously not you, but I must wonder how many of your countrymen take this for granted.

Thanks.

Historic churches are taken very much for granted, I think.

The first and the last pictures here are enchanting (hauntingly). I find it so interesting that graves are in churchyards (just in a general way). Once I saw a playground (swing-set and slide) in a churchyard with gravestones. The idea of life and death, monuments for both, side by side -- there's something poetic in the idea -- and that comes across in your pictures (esp. the slants of sunlight and shadows).

I've always loved old churchyards.

Thank you. I love the gravestones in the first and the light in the second.

Gravestones are always good- and winter light is full of surprises.

Ditto to several on the light on St. Michael.

We have many churchyards with cemeteries here in Philadelphia -- not all of them have been dug up and moved.

It's a horrible act of vandalism to dig up a graveyard.

I love the sky in the last one.
I wonder if there are any identical churches in this country.

Identical? I doubt it. Every old church has its unique points of interest

I especially like the look of All Saints but then I'm partial to that sort of tower.

O yes, me too! I like my towers massive and defensible.
