1.The woman from the Council arrived first thing, bringing a dour older man with her. He looked at the back yard and proposed eliminating the wheelchair-unfriendly steps by raising the level of the paved area- an elegant solution.

2. The step lift is malfunctioning again.

3. Weeks ago I promised to post a picture of the very large shower seat the Council gave us. I'm sorry for taking so long.

That's very much like the one my mother had to use. It's such a convenience and necessity and I'm glad your Council is quite on top of things.

Obviously I don't know about the details of your property, but whilst raising the level of any paving might be good for wheelchair access, you'd also want to make sure it didn't interfere with any damp-proof course on the walls of the house itself. Hopefully that's just a paranoid comment, but it's always possible to be well-meaning without necessarily being joined-up.
