I had a conversion experience in London. I was watching one of those TV makeover shows in the hotel bedroom. This woman had a filthy, disgusting, untidy house. The cleanliness gurus came and sorted it out for her. I groaned. I was convicted. I saw the light.

So now I'm decorating the kitchen.

I bought an over-all with a nifty hood. It makes me look like I'm planning to handle toxic waste. It's a design classic with lots of little air-holes to let the skin breathe. Thing is the little holes also let in paint.

But I've undercoated the ceiling twice and things are looking good. Next step is to paint it a sunny yellow. Then we move to the walls. They're going to be terracotta. Seeing how the whole ensemble- ceiling and walls- used to be midnight blue (God knows why- but I must have picked it) the transformation will be startling.

Please take photographs!

This would make a nifty photo, too!

I like the idea of terracotta and yellow.

:) Delightful!

I once watched a very intimidating reorganizing crew whip a New York brownstone into shape. The woman who lived there could hardly find her fireplace! She was simply overwhelmed by the squalorous nest she had made for herself, and tearfully grateful to the reorganizers.

They don't show the hours and hours of sorting and throwing away that must be a part of the cleansing process. And I wonder if the basements of some of these newly pristine houses are now filled with piles of ugly furniture and National Geographics.

Those programs are riveting. I've seen them, too.

They're riveting but- well- normally I give them a miss for fear of addiction.

I do have a picture of myself in the suit and I was going to post it and then I lost my bottle. I'll see if I can screw my courage to the sticking place...

I've been disappointed with my recent picture-taking. I used to fancy myself as a photographer but these days I just don't seem to have the knack. I look, for example, at [livejournal.com profile] mtl's work and despair.

Her photographs were beautiful! And beautifully composed, so that there's a story in each one. I particularly liked the three people, one a woman in a red dress, walking under the trees.

I've added her to my friends' list so that I can enjoy her photos every day.

She is good, isn't she!

I really like the latest one of the woman in the green dress in the bar.

good luck!
