Alice took a call yesterday from the Oldham Advertizer. They'd heard about her book (now on sale at Amazon) and the eager cub reporter wanted to talk to her about her life growing up in Oldham- and in particular about her rascally, old dad.

She didn't give him my phone number, but I have his. I'm not going to call it. This is Alice's gig not mine- and I'm no longer in business as a mad-eyed deflowerer of virgins and trampler on crucifixes; that's a story of long ago and far away. If he manages to track me down I'll speak to him- as a reward for being a proper newshound- but only if.

No, Ailz is Aileen. This is my daughter Alice, otherwise know as Ally-pally or Al-the-gal :)

The book is rather different. She's spotted a gap in the market and filled it. There's a bit of a buzz around it- and a fair amount of media interest.

I wonder if you'll be in one of the planes that passes directly overhead? What a strange thought- to be within hailing distance (almost) and yet completely unreachable.

yes...I expect it can depend on
weather conditions what course they take
but I think most commonly the go further
north (shetlands or so, norway,
sweden, st pete ...)
well Im not quite sure of the route but

well I am here. the plane was absolutely
full, they checked us with temperature reading
for swine flu on arrival and had only two lanes
open for passport control an hour in line but
some of us got in the russians only line which
was the only one of the two that was moving
and got through..,

I clicked on Amazon.com to see the progress on the book. It's scheduled to be up for sale on the 29th, I believe. I got to read an excerpt on line at the Amazon web site, and it looks interesting. I am planning to buy a copy from Amazon when it is available.
