Hard Work

Being on holiday is hard work. I slept ten hours and I’m still tired. I had dreams in which my father was being unpleasant and then went missing. I was still looking for him when I woke. Maybe this trip is gonna be about looking for him. I’ve forgiven him, but I suppose there’s still unfinished business. Perhaps there always is.

The hotel has been constructed inside the shell of a beautiful Victorian townhouse. Our room has no original features but there’s plenty of wedding-cakey plasterwork in reception.

Yesterday we were at the V & A- my favourite London museum. What did I learn? That the Koreans were making exquisite ceramics when our medieval ancestors were making mud pies and real Japanese armour ain’t half as colourful and shiny as the stuff they wear in Ran and Kagemusha.

Today we plan to go visit the Wallace Collection- but first we have to find out where it is.

I’m writing this on the new lap-top. After initial feelings of despair- I’ve paid £500 for this and I’m never going to master it- I’m having fun. It has a finger-pad rather than a mouse, so I’m kinda smearing text about. It feels a bit like being back in nursery school.

That’s an amazing dream. I think grandpa was more disappointed in me than in you guys. And I was well disappointed in him too. That’s all sorted now. When I think of him I mainly think of him as a mischievous little chap. Ailz is convinced that he has been hanging out with us in Oldham and playing harmless practical jokes.

I think everyone is a little bit psychic (except for me.) You gotta tell me about the weird stuff sometime. I’ve met a few major league psychics but they all seemed flaky with it- and it was impossible to tell where the real giftedness ended and the charlatanism began.

Yeah that dream was well intense and I was kind of sad to be waking up from it. I just imagine that now he's on the othersiode he realised what a plop he'd made of everything and that was his way of coming to apologise for me. Anyway as far as my new found beliefs go he will simply get a good ribbing from his fellow spirits and have to try anlot damn harder next time! Its all fine really. What games has he been playing on you? He hasn't by any chance come to Leicester and make my house stink of curry powder has he? Or do you thin that may just be the litter tray?
I asked a question of my spirit whatsit thingy and got an answer in a really weird way but nearly immediately. Also when I was ont rain back from G'[pa's funeral I asked for a sign from him and I imagined thesign would be some white gloves or a cane but instead I looked down and my eyes settled immediately imbetween the seats in front of me ontop a half done crossword directly ion my eyeline. Weird cos trhats what I got you to say at the funreal and more relvant to me than white gloves etc. What tricks he playing on you?

I doubt if curry is his style, but the crossword puzzle certainly is. In our house we suspect him of hiding and teleporting things. Just before we left to come to London someone moved a couple of DVDs from the back room downstairs and put them in our case in the bedroom. Ailz and I are quite adamant it was neither of us.

Maybe he really wanted you to bring them to Kent for him to watch! I wonder if he is the one who is always hiding J's keys and bank cards? :-)
