Hard Work

Being on holiday is hard work. I slept ten hours and I’m still tired. I had dreams in which my father was being unpleasant and then went missing. I was still looking for him when I woke. Maybe this trip is gonna be about looking for him. I’ve forgiven him, but I suppose there’s still unfinished business. Perhaps there always is.

The hotel has been constructed inside the shell of a beautiful Victorian townhouse. Our room has no original features but there’s plenty of wedding-cakey plasterwork in reception.

Yesterday we were at the V & A- my favourite London museum. What did I learn? That the Koreans were making exquisite ceramics when our medieval ancestors were making mud pies and real Japanese armour ain’t half as colourful and shiny as the stuff they wear in Ran and Kagemusha.

Today we plan to go visit the Wallace Collection- but first we have to find out where it is.

I’m writing this on the new lap-top. After initial feelings of despair- I’ve paid £500 for this and I’m never going to master it- I’m having fun. It has a finger-pad rather than a mouse, so I’m kinda smearing text about. It feels a bit like being back in nursery school.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your new laptop and that you're able to travel with it, too.

When my daughter went to London, she saw (of course) The Mousetrap and some museums. My brother, a photographer, is fascinated by Highgate Cemetery and spends some time there whenever he visits. My sister Janice spent some time in London (but mostly in Wales) on a grant to study the role of women in early Welsh mining, and she and her husband loved the British Isles very much. They stayed in wonderful bed and breakfasts for their 6-week stay.

I hear the double-decker buses are now gone. Is that right?

Kate and I are hoping to go to Scotland in a couple of years, but I'd like very much to see Highgate for myself and not just through black and white photographs!

I hope you have a fine holiday.

have a wonderful time

Hi, I have been reading books aboutpast lives and stuff like that and have got myself hooked. I read a book by Michael NEwton about the spirit world absolutely brilliant. Have been having some stuff happen. Talked to a girl at work who is discovering her psychic abilities and talking to her guides. She said to aks a question and wait for an answer of some sorts. I did and got a spooky answer within an hour which happened through a couple of odd events which seemed to relate to each other. WOn't go into it now.
Well Mike also told me that Grandpa was disapointed with us kids. That made my stomach turn. Nevermind. I dreamt about him a few weeks ago. He was youing and lying on the floor and he said he really missed me and I said I really missed him too and then I lay with him and we just hugged for ages and it all felt really lovely and safe. All a bit weird really. Did I ever tell you about the time I woke up and relaised I had just rememebred everything and was laughuing my head off about why we were here- that was years ago. ANyway I seem to be drawn to all this stuff at the minute I think it is good for me. Do you know any good psychics? Love Alice x
