New Rabbit

We did a silly thing. We went to the pet shop to buy rabbit food- and came home with a rabbit. Thing is, it's a lonely, displaced rabbit- which had been homed twice and then returned because it gets broody and aggressive. We got her for the price of a small donation to the charity that "rescued" her.

The existing rabbits are called Tish and Tosh- so this one has to be Tash.

At present she's segregated from the other two- in the same room but in a separate pen. If we ever get them to live together in Olympic harmony she'll probably be Top Bun, because she's very, very fierce.

I've just spent some time sitting in her pen. She's not shy of human beings. It's just that she goes into attack mode if anything ventures too close.

I feel compelled to point out that if you'd like her to settle a bit, then Tash might not be the best name...as its the same name of the nasty-bad God of the Calormen in the Chronicles of Narnia. ;)

I love it! Somebody rushed away from work on Friday afternoon saying that her sister had let her rabbit into the garden with her cat and that she was worried about the cat as the rabbit gets really angry ("my bunny gets really angry", were her exact words).

I have wondered over the weekend what an angry bunny looks like and now you've posted a picture *beams with delight*!

Rabbits have teeth, claws and a powerful kick. They can be formidable if they choose to be.

Tash was bounced from her last home because she didn't get on with the family dog- and I rather think it was the dog and not Tash that was most at risk.

I told Ailz that this is a wonderful thing you two are doing. Underdogs (or in this case underrabbits) often have a hard time getting placed in a good home. I am certain that she will work out fine, especially once she is neutered and her sexual frustration is neutralized.
She's such a pretty one!

The rabbits have the run of a large upstairs bedroom. They're not kiddy pets so it doesn't really matter if they're not wholly tame. Our #2 rabbit- who we've had for a year now- is still shy of us and keeps well away- and that's fine. We've got thing set up so they can live- pretty much- on their own terms.

She seems to like rearranging the furniture. I went in this morning and she'd moved her litter tray so it was on top of her food bowl. No worries- I just moved it back.

The rabbits have the run of a large upstairs bedroom. It's like a nature reserve in there. We don't expect them to be touchy-feely family pets- not unless they want to be.
