We stopped (very briefly) at Cirencester on the way home last Tuesday and I went round the church (which is in the process of being restored and is mostly a building site) and Ailz ate a roast pork butty she bought at the market stall you can see in this picture. She also bought cherries and peaches. Cirencester used to be called Corinium and there's a Roman museum I badly want to visit.

Your photo makes the town look eminently visitable. What's the date on the church?

It was created over a long period. The foundations are 12th century, but the nave was built in the early 16th century- on the profits of the wool trade.

I just love the look of your buildings and your market! I wish I were right there!

What a wonderful photo composition. Looks like the quintessential English market town but the colours on the houses, not so much. The pink and blue remind me of Portugal.

Thank you.

These strong Mediterranean colours seem to have come into fashion recently. I like them.
