Wonderful pictures. You've captured the light and the charm of the place. It was a glorious day while we were in the gardens. Who would have thought it could have been such a downpour at the start of our visit? Jenny
I expect it's true. Napoleon took scholars and archaeologists to Egypt, but I don't suppose his soldiers shared in his enthusiasm for ancient civilisation.
How odd- as I write this they are showing pictures of the sphinx on T.V.!
I see shades of the Trevi Fountain there. Marble is an amazing material for sculpting, isn“t it? The fluidity of the body of the nude woman to the right in the second picture is wonderful. This is lovely. Thank you!

We did well for weather, didn't we? I love to photograph those stormy-cloudy skies.
Incidentally there are more pictures of Hever in my LJ "Scrapbook".

Thanks for pointing out the similarity to me; I wouldn't have known if you hadn't said.
I just found out lunch that the reason the Sphinx has no nose is Napoleon's target practice. I was absolutely shocked. What a moron.

They charge a substantial entrance fee, but it's worth it. You could spend the whole day there and still not have seen everything.
