What with our free-range rabbits being totally committed to the punk lifestyle we get through a lot of  rugs. Happily, Ikea sell very nice, stripey, cotton throw-rugs at  £1.49 a pop. It's as cheap- if not cheaper- than putting down newspaper.

So the plan was we'd buy an armful of cheap rugs and leave, but it's never that simple, is it? We  came across the scented candles and they were such pretty colours and smelled so good that we bought an armful of those as well. Then Ailz went into the bargain corner (I stayed outside with the heavy, heavy shopping bag) and bought me a cheap chair.

Ooh, Ergonomic!

I see from this morning's paper that Ikea is getting into the house-building business too. Stands to reason, I suppose. Cheap houses, nicely designed, pre-assembled so you can put one up in a day.  Each block (containing three appartments) comes with a communal bench and an apple tree.

I have seen the future and it smells of vanilla.

I can never leave IKEA without a jar of cloudberry jam.

Ailz loves the meatballs. She bought a packet of those.

LOL. When I think of Ikea, I think of the smell of the outgassing of particle board. (Which is not to say that I don't love my Ikea dresser, just that it took me a year to get over the smell.)

"The outgassing of particle board"- so that's what that smell is. I think I rather like it.

It makes my throat close up, so I'm not particularly fond of it! Until I discovered what it was that was bothering me, it was pretty scary.

IKEA is addictive. We love their cheap well-made build it yourself furniture. I have their cheap rugs all over the place for the dogs. I can see their pre-assembled houses popping up in vacation spots all over.

Aren´t their candles lovely?

We regard a trip to Ikea as a real treat- and we always come back laden.

I've got one of their scented tea lights burning now.

Excellent.

We had one open just down the road at the end of last year.

I have heard that IKEA has incredibly good sales when they launch a new store.

I am making a list in preparation :)

I have seen the future and it is yellow and blue (or at least those are the IKEA building colors in the US).

They are here too.

Very cheerful- and a little startling when you round the corner of a street in a mild-mannered English provincial town and there'e this huge wodge of primary colour rearing up ahead of you.

"wodge"

It's very expressive, isn't it?

I want an Ikea house and an apple tree, please God!

And an armful of those cheap rugs, too.

Do you have an IKEA store in your neighbourhood?

Ours is simply enormous- like a great Scandanavian fortress- painted blue and yellow.

Alas, we don't have an IKEA here. Kate and Richard do, up in Pennsylvania. They love it!
