Blinds

I understand curtains. I've lived with curtains all my life. If I were buying new curtains it would simply be a question of what colour I fancied.  But blinds? I've not done blinds before.

And in the bedroom. What if they leak light? What if they're horribly fiddly? What if I regret the decision the moment they're up?

Her Next Door has blinds. In every room. They look really clean and cool and modern.

The only place I've dealt with blinds before is in Travel Lodges.

I liked the salesman. He wasn't pushy. A child started laughing when he was measuring up.  What the ...?  It was his ring tone, of course.

Ailz is no use. I voice my objections; she bounces them back at me.  Might as well talk to the wall.

Oh, all right. Let's go for it!

Horizontal are hard to dust. Vertical are really nice. :-)

Vertical is what we're going for.

What kind of blinds? If "cellular", be careful about getting ones that are too wide, as you will have constant trouble with the raising and lowering.

Cellular blinds are a new idea to me. I had to Google to find out what they were. So, no, we're not getting them; we're getting simple vertical blinds. :)

I usually prefer blinds AND curtains for optimum morning light blockage. However I'm often VERY remiss when it comes to dusting said blinds...because they are behind curtains.

The idea is to replace the curtains- which have been up for about ten years. I'm hoping blinds, by themselves, will be enough.

We're going for vertical blinds. I'm told they don't need much dusting...

I've found that blinds alone let in light through the cracks and around the edges.

Ten years!

...I don't think I've ever lived in one place for that long.

I've lived in this house for twenty years now.

You get attached....

i'm absolutely in love with our new wooden (real wood! albeit horizontal) blinds. they make our new living room and dining room look so, well, cozy. they do leak a good bit of light but we don't mind that at all in there.

They sound nice. These won't be wood. They'll be some sort of plastic or pvc.

It is the Very Latest Thing, you know, to ditch curtains.

I have some curtains. I can't let go of my past so easily.

I'm not sure quite what to expect. The guys are coming to fix the blinds tomorrow. I'm quite excited about it.

I think you will really like blinds! And I can't wait to see pictures of your transformed house.

Isn't it amazing how much things can change in only one year? Your Christmas decorations will look so fine!

And here I am in a new place with a big window just right for a huge real Christmas tree. I'm planning on over a thousand little white lights.
