 I got a letter in the post from the local council telling me "a local resident"  has lodged a complaint about me "feeding large birds". It informs me that feeding large birds isn't against the law but would I, please, desist- for various reasons. 

Oh, OK. OK....Next time I see a swan or a heron in my garden I'll chase it away.

I assume that this is the latest move in a campaign of harrasment by our next-door neighbour- the Seventh Day Adventist.

But of course I can't be sure....

All of us are afraid of losing control of our world and some of us are so very afraid that we resort to curtain twitching and lodging anonymous complaints with the authorities. 

Such a shame.....

And if one has feeders out as we do and big birds choose to take advantage as they do?

When we were living on the farm we got lots of small birds coming to the feeders. Here it's mainly the bigger ones- but we didn't particularly set out to feed pigeons and gulls.

No gulls to speak of here but certainly magpies, jackdaws, collared doves and wood pigeons.

Maybe a reminder to the council that this sort of anonymous stuff is invariably mischief making?

You should write letter to the local council about bad behavior of the 7th Day Adventist. I’m sure you have kompromat against him and you should give him a lesson about good neighborhood.

No, he has done nothing that falls under the authority of the Council. Besides which I have no wish to play his game by his rules.
