Spitfire!

 We were at the Farm on Monday and a Spitfire flew over and did a roll for us- practising no doubt for the Eastbourne Air Show this coming weeked. I pointed up at it and shouted "Spitfire!"- which is what I normally do when one turns up.

You got to love a Spitfire, right?

Well, perhaps not if you're a Quaker..

In this respect I'm a bad Quaker.....

There are those at the Meeting House who want to stage some sort of protest at the Air Show. I'm going along with it because it's been discerned as the will of the Meeting but I have reservations. I don't think that getting in people's faces and annoying them is the way to promote Peace. I could be wrong. 

My contribution has been to pin this poster up outside the Meeting House.



There are those who find it insufficiently serious. Sure it is. Serious people start wars. Humourous people tend not to.

like dropping turkeys for thanks giving
living food is good
frozen food is deadly..

been to a few air shows
one showed up on its own
when i was in chicago
I was so sick
the sound had me dreaming

it was the roaring 20's
and this bearded guy in a flapper dress
opened up the trunk of our car
it was shaped like one of those on hogan's heroes
and we go shot with a machine gun.
barfed up blood.
really bad food poisoning and past life issues.

put a little embellishment
to make it look like a heraldic announcement?
and date it.

It's sad that air shows inevitably mean war planes. I looked at the programme for this one of ours and the only plane we'll be seeing that isn't military is one that's flown by a Frenchwoman who has won prizes for aerial aerobatics.

I went to one in Oshkosh

it was more of a history of flight
but it was in the 70's

one of my earliest memories
was dad sending up weather balloon
then the blue angels
I was born in seattle.

I do not do well in small planes
so I never wanted to learn how to fly

but hang gliding looked fun

Spitfires won last war and kill someone who tried to dropping bombs on England?

The Spitfire had a leading role in the Battle of Britain. It didn't win the war but it helped see off the threat of a German invasion.

If it were vintage airliners I'd be all about it.
