I watched Djokovic's first round match. I don't suppose there are going to be all that many more opportunities to see him in action
Federer is artistic, Nadal impassioned and Djokovic effortless. Effortless is less exciting to watch than artistic and impassioned but the statistics are incontrovertible. Will anyone, ever again, win 24 majors- and counting?
Actually I wouldn't bet against it. Carlos Alcaraz has already got three under his belt and he's only 21....
2. British General Election
It seems a foregone conclusion that Labour will win on a landslide. I'm not thrilled by what I know of Keir Starmer- and I'm not sure anybody is- but he's going to benefit from the deep, deep discontent with the political establishment that is sweeping the western world- with people less concerned with bringing in the new than in sweeping out the old. Here is Eastbourne we could see a Lib Dem victory. If George Galloway's Workers Party were running a candidate I'd vote for them....
