"There's a beach just down the street," I said.
"Well, I'm not going," She said.
"But I will," I said, and grabbed up a little bucket with a handle and set off.
A bucket the size of the ones that kids use to make sandcastles.....
As I came back with my bucketful of stones I had to pass by the tennis courts where the Rothesay tournament was in progress and every so often there was a burst of applause that sounded exactly like a wave retreating down a shingle beach.
