Working In The Garden, But Not Too Hard

poliphilo My first association with the word "obelisk" is tall pointy monumental thing, Egyptian in origin, but in gardening speak it can also be a tall pointy framework for climbing plants. We have one at the bottom of the garden and we're taking delivery of a second today. The first is supporting a couple of clematis- one summer flowering, one winter flowering (do you see the cunning in that?)- and the second will, I think, be used to support a jasmine.....
We've had solar lights that change colour hanging up around the garden for a couple of summers- and now we've bought ten more on short stalks that I've speared into the lawn at intervals along the course of the serpentine garden path, They're not as bright as the hanging ones but they throw an attractive starburst pattern onto the ground- and make me think of the "liddle green lanterns" in Kipling's poem about the fairy lady of Romney Marsh...
I quite like gardening but I prefer the bit where I'm wandering round afterwards admiring what I've done...
