poliphilo Rainclouds keep swarming over the hills.There are intervals- and in one of them I did a bit of light gardening, including re-sowing grass seed where the pigeons had located it and eaten it all up. It's curious: they've found some of the seeded areas and not others. Ailz says pigeons- in fact birds in general- need to consume their own body weight in food everyday. This seems unlikely, but then birds don't weigh very much...
I wrote a political post, then did something inadvertent that caused it to be wiped. I'll take this as sign that writing political posts is not something I should be doing. After all, I have no inside knowledge but only my motherwit- and once you've firmly established that politics is a dirty business it seems redundant to point at some particular piece of double dealing and go, "Lord, but that was dirty." Mistrust everything our leaders and their media mouthpieces say (and I mean everything)- and you can't go far wrong.
I started another post about the use of doubles by political leaders and other persons of significance but it didn't seem to be going anywhere so I stopped. Stalin is reputed to have used doubles, likewise Saddam Hussein and, currently, Vladiimir Putin. Funny how all these people are or were "enemies" of the western powers. There are rumours that the chap who turns up in the role of president of the United States isn't always the full and indisputable Biden, but they're only rumours. The other day something funny happened to the Biden character's chin and there were those who said it was a literal mask that was literally slipping. Apparently they can make masks these days that are completely undectable- like the ones they used in Mission Impossible- the old TV show not the movie franchise. I don't know whether to credit this or not. Commonsense says "unlikely", but then we are living now with all sorts of technologies that transcend "commonsense"...

Date: 2023-11-05 06:33 pm (UTC)At the moment I'm reading about the deception fed to the Third Reich in the run-up to D-Day; one episode involves an Aussie actor who was flown to Gibraltar to be "seen" by Spanish informants as a double for Montgomery, on his way to Algeria, in the hope that they would expect an invasion from the Mediterranean.
