Sep. 28th, 2023 08:18 am Jane Austen once wrote a novel called- simply- Jane. It's a detective story. A crime has been committed and our eponymous heroine thinks she can solve it by staging a reenactment. When the BBC serialised the book in the 70s they got Richard Burton to play "the Bishop". Critics point to Jane as the first novel to introduce a character type they call "the imaginary hetero".
