First Thing
Sep. 14th, 2023 07:37 am The last few days the cat has come racing into our bedroom first thing making loud squweaking noises. This morning he did it at exactly six 'o'clock. Once he's ascertained that we still exist, he settles down again. He's turning into an alarm clock.
Not that we need one. For a long time now we've been going to bed and getting up with the sun.
I used to think it was oppressive that the school day should be mandated to start with prayers and hymns, but now I'm grateful for the texts this practice fixed in my memory banks. As a child I had only the foggiest notion what they all meant. Now I enter into my early morning routine thinking "New every morning is the Love/ Our waking and uprising prove"- and it cheers me up.
