Two blokes showed up at the door last night, asking if they could see the house. They didn't have an appointment, but they were very apologetic about it so I let them in.

No, this isn't a horror story; they were very pleasant and respectful. They asked a few questions about the cracks in the ceiling and stuff like that, but this was absolutely their right.

And they left me feeling so churned up inside I could have cried.

Why is that, I wonder?

A house is an extension of the self and when you put it up for sale you make yourelf very vulnerable. That's what I think it's all about.

It's hard not to think of one's house as a home. Someone coming into your inner space, esp. unexpectedly, sets things a little off balance or on edge to begin with.

Yes, exactly.

It made me feel very vulnerable.

I can't even imagine.

When we moved into this house I kept wondering why the last owner left, and hoping that she had moved on to something she liked even *better,* because I hated the thought of her having to leave such a beautiful house and having these strangers (us) come in and change it all up.

I hope we never have to move. I'm not sure I could handle saying goodbye.

**hugs** to you.

Thanks for the hugs.

They say that moving is one of the most stressful things you can do.

I'm trying to be zen about it, but sometimes the mask slips

Are you even selling your house? Sorry...you probably said you are in a previous entry.

It's been on the market for about two weeks.

It seemed like a good idea at the time :)

You're going to be a wreck when you reach that final moment when you stand in the entryway to your house and see it just as bare of your things as the day you moved in. That's always been a tough one for me.

Good luck.
