Airbourne starts today. Airbourne is the Eastbourne air show. If you use a car to get about this is when you do your shopping some place else. Curbside parking is suspended in the town centre and parking on the periphery can cost as much as £25 a day.

Shops are joing in by putting aviation-related items in their windows. Yesterday I bought a little diecast model of the Wright Flyer from a charity shop for £3.00.

The military use Airbourne as a recruiting opportunity. They will be luring the impressionable young into their tents with flight simulators etc. Thrill at the Red Arrows, ignore last years headlines about bullying and debauchery, join the RAF!

We'll be down at the Meeting House, Odi and the kids will probably be on the beach. There'll be loudness, there'll be a rain of toxic particles, there'll be a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight...

When living in the south of Cambridge, I'd sometimes drive out to Sawston or Haverhill or wherever to shop, it could be easier than heading into the city. I used to work enough south that I was near enough to Duxford to see, from my office window, the old aeroplanes practising for coming shows.

Here in Glasgow we just had the world cycling championship thing, now we seem to have a world pipe band competition.
