Bunny Hell

It takes more than castration to stop a male rabbit thinking thoughts of love. Ever since we introduced Rachel into the home, poor, mild, little Tosh has been out of his brains with lust. He can't help himself. It's kinda dispiriting to watch.

"C'est Venus toute entiere a sa proie attachee" as M. Racine so feelingly observed.  

Rachel isn't a happy rabbit. either. No, not because of Tosh's attentions- though she doesn't welcome them, but  because she's spent most of her life cooped up in a tiny hutch and her idea of  fun is to back herself into a corner , sink her head between her shoulders and hope that the world has forgotten her. Ailz thinks she's depressed; she probably is.  

Things will improve. Tosh will get used to having a woman in his life and Rachel will get used to living in a world thats a little larger than 2'X4'. In the long run (I trust) they'll be good for one another.

yeah they'll get used to their new lives. But it might take a few weeks.

I think so. After a while, when they'll get used to each other, they'll enjoy each other's company. At least that has always been the case with the rabbits I had as a kid.

That bunnies, especially females, can be ultra-sensitive and emotionally fragile. I wish you lick and hope you can give Rachel lots of space and privacy while she works this through. Bella, especially, hated change, any change. Despite the "fable" slow and steady wins this race, IMHO.

Tosh is such a bouncy little thing, I guess I assumed all rabbits would be the same.

I once dated a man who had bought a rabbit for his daughter.

He said the rabbit never moved. He said he might as well have bought a statue.

Kate had a red rabbit when she was twelve. She let June out of her hutch and into a new grassy yard and she hopped all night long! After that, she mostly sat like a statue.

We gave her away and she went insane with lovelust in her new pen with a new rabbit that crouched in the corner. So your story sounds familiar!

Rabbits are obviously touchy beasts.

Rachel is becoming a little bolder, but she doesn't like us in the least. If we come into the room she scurries behind the furniture. I don't suppose, given her history of captivity, she has any good reason to be fond of human beings.
