Kennedys

There are two Kennedys making the news at present.

There's Robert Kennedy Jr who is bidding to be President of the USA. All the politicians and mainstream journalists hate him

And then there's Kathleen Kennedy who is a producer at Disney. All the fanboys hate her.

It can be confusing.

I see a headline which says something like "Spielberg destroys Kennedy" and I think it's RFK he's coming out against, but of course it's KK.

I imagine it was more of a mild diss that a complete obliteration- but that's the media for you.

When people are universally hated it inclines me in their favour. I believe I'd vote for RFK if I had the chance.  And I'm sure KK is kind to small children and animals and Indy V isn't half as bad as they're saying it is.

RFK Jr. and Kathleen Kennedy are not related. 😀

I believe I'd vote for RFK if I had the chance.

Really? He drove his first wife to suicide. He's that privileged and that oblivious.

I reckon RFK Jr.s poll numbers mostly reflect the fact that many left-leaning voters think Biden is just too damn old to be installed in the White House again.

And also the fact that Americans ❤️LUV❤️ their dynasties.

He's already failing- visibly and audibly.

I don't necessarily disagree with that.

However...

(1) American media is amazingly polarized and can't be relied upon for any accurate info. Just as Trump is invariably characterized in the left-leaning press as "Bad orange man! Racist! Sexist! Stupid!" so is Biden characterized in the right-leaning press as "Senile Brandon! Puppet! Prop!"

Biden has never been much of an orator. He's a lifelong stutterer. As a senator, he was famous for his malapropisms. His political reputation rested on his ability to negotiate, and as President, he has displayed that talent on several notable occasions to the nation's advantage—most recently in those completely ridiculous budget ceiling negotiations.

Is he failing physically? Maybe. To know that with any accuracy, you'd have to be able to compare the number of times he stumbled off plane steps, tripped in front of the White House Garden, etc, etc before he became President, and those statistics are simply not available.

Do I wish there was a viable Democratic candidate who is younger than Biden?

You bet.

But there simply aren't any. Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsome are the closest things, and I dislike them both.

I think Trump is an absolute atrocity. And while I kinda think DeSantis is an executive genius in some ways—I mean, he got critical infrastructure (a bridge) rebuilt in two weeks after a hurricane flattened it—getting trapped in that whole gay rights tarbaby bespeaks a kind of strategic imbecility, plus, you know, I'm in favor of abortion rights. So, no on DeSantis.

There's no one but Biden at this point, in other words.
