The Machine Mind

poliphilo I click on a vid. And somewhere in the depths of cyberspace a machine mind thinks, "Ah, so that's what he likes; lets send him more of the same."
And it does.
I click on some of the new vids and this reinforces the machine mind's opinion of me and it ups the dosage....
And very soon I'm seeing loads of vids that reinforce the worldview of the first vid I clicked on.
And the more I click the more I limit the kind of thing the machine mind is going to send me.
Until, in cooperation with the machine mind, I've built a little prison for myself. A mental prison. A little cave, a little cavern- in which I'm only seeing things, only hearing things from a very narrow range of sources.
Happily though, the machine mind is incapable of nuance.
I click on a Monty Python vid- and it deduces that I like British comedy of the 1970s and after deluging me with Python vids it decides to send me something from the same era and gifts me a vid of Bernard Manning making racist jokes- and that's when I wake up and go, "Now hang on, wait a minute...."
