You add salt to water. You keep dropping it in and dropping it in- until- at a certain point it suddenly starts to crystallise. An entity- Vagrein, channeled by Jessie Herman- was using this simile (in a video I was watching yesterday) to explain how change occurs. For the longest time nothing seems to be happening, the water gets saltier and saltier, but then when the density is just right all it takes is one single extra grain to shift the balance- and the crystals form.

This got into my dreams last night. I was a priest again (I don't think one ever stops being a priest) and I'd had this jolly idea that before the main morning service we needed to wash the hands of all the people with salted water. The people were sitting at tables and not all of them were co-operative and some were openly hostile and the process was taking ages- much longer than I'd anticipated- and we'd be late starting the morning service and it was really the most awful fag....
