Aha, Jim Lad
May. 31st, 2023 08:11 pm Ailz had an operation to remove a cataract this morning. Into the clinic at 8.00 in the morning, out again shortly after 11.00. She's feeling a bit knocked about but the operation seems to have gone well. They've given her a temporary eye patch. It's not black but we've been making the pirate jokes anyway...
While she was in the clinic I wandered round Hampden Park- which has a lake with wild fowl and an acre or two of well managed woodland- then up to Willingdon village. Then I returned to the hospital and sat on a bench next to an old chap who had been told to sit in the sun for a couple of hours to allow the ointment they'd put on his head to heat up and do its work. We talked about photography. He said he's been taking pictures since 1947- and has an attic full of albums he supposes his dear family will throw away....

Date: 2023-06-01 01:51 pm (UTC)If I could somehow get a message back through time to my younger self, I'd tell me to take photos of all the ordinary domestic stuff that I took for granted. If the elderly photographer has photos of the type we'd call street photography or he photographed industrial buildings, then they would be valuable.
