Lorry Gaffs

poliphilo The southwest facing elevation of our house has been rendered and partly painted a pale sky blue. The finish makes me think of ice cream.
Blue ice cream?
Yes, they sell it in the Italian geletaria. I think it's the bubblegum flavour. I've never tried it because ancestral tradition warns me against eating anything blue. Apart, that is, from blueberries- the blandest and least interesting fruit in the world.
I originally wrote geletaria as gelatoria- by analogy with crematoria- but it didn't seem right so I checked. Crematoria have been on my mind because I've been reading Caitlin Doughty's Smoke Gets in Your Eyes- the true story of a young woman's adventures in the South Californian funeral business. Ailz read it for one of her courses and recommended it as fun. And it is. As authors and comedians have recognised since the dawn of time there are a whole lorra laffs in death.
Just as there are in sex. And eating and shitting. Anything to do with bodies is intrinsically funny.
Lorra laffs, by the way, is Scouse for lot of laughs. My spell checker hated it and rendered it as "lorry gaffs"- which suggests a whole other train of whimsicality which I don't think I can be bothered to pursue...
