I record dreams for various reasons:

1. Because they're fun.

2. Because I'm a Jungian and on the lookout for symbols and archetypes.

3. Because I think they afford us glimpses into other realities.

The two dreams I remember from last night went a bit like this.

My grandfather had left me a caravan that was full of stuff. There were books- the entire contents of his library- and under the books there was food. The pressure of everything on top of them had rendered the bottom items sizzling hot- and ready to eat. My sister in law asked if she could have the bacon tarts (or whatever they were) for her brother and I said, "Of course you can. I'm a vegan and wouldn't be eating them anyway."

I was looking round a pretty little church in Croydon (the town where I grew up.) A neatly dressed middle-aged man (I believe he was wearing a bow tie) appointed himself as my guide. I asked him why he was doing this and he pointed to a nearby grave, "Ah, so you're dead," I said. "I thought you were." Adjacent to the church were the vast, ruinous remains of the minster or cathedral it had once been apart of. As so often happens my camera broke, but (and this is a new development) there was a film cameraman to hand and he took it off me, replaced the elastic band that drove the motor- and it was working again. Next time, I thought, I'll be able to fix it myself.

Both dreams seem to be about our inheritance from the past- how we should value it- and how much we still don't know...
