I like Jordan Peterson....

...Not enough to read his books but enough to enjoy hearing him speak. I like him because he's (A) remarkably intelligent and articulate and (B) independent and unclassifiable. He takes his ideas from various sources and can't be dismissed as belonging to any school- except perhaps his own. But is "Petersonian" an adjective yet? I don't believe it is- and that in itself tells us that none of his ideas are original in themselves. Everything in the package carries the signature of some 19th or 20th century luminary. What is original is the way he wires them all together. It's simplistic to call him a conservative because some of his stances are progressive/left-wing, but he is certainly conservative in that there's nothing in the package that couldn't have been thought by a person fifty or seventy-five years ago. I value him as an irritant, an outsider, a voice crying in the wilderness, but mistrust him for his anger. When a person gets angry in their discourse- frothing at the mouth angry as Peterson sometimes does- it's a sign that they have unresolved issues- and are not to be trusted on the subject under discussion...
