Between Two Worlds

The cat asks to go out, the cat asks to come in, the cat asks to go out, the cat asks to come in; if the cat had the designing of a world it would be full of doorways for him to sit and look through- and sometimes block- but no doors. In summer we can approximate his vision by leaving the garden doors open most of the time but in winter that's really not on and I function as his doorman.

Today's the day our new grandchild is going into hospital to be born. In the old world I'd have said we'd be sitting by our phones- but in the new world everyone does that all the time and the phrase has become meaningless...

I am also my cat's personal butler. He has me up and down the building stairs like a yo-yo. Happily, I'm only on the first floor.

Oh dear. I only have to open doors. If there were stairs involved I'd be getting a great deal of exercise,
