There's Christmas stuff in the shops. I have memories of glass ornaments that hung on the Christmas trees of my childhood which were quite fabulously beautiful- faceted, multicoloured, gleaming- as if you were looking through a peephole into paradise- and I go down the relevant aisles looking for their modern equivalents but nothing in stock is ever quite as brilliant...

I don't know what happened to the ones me had when I was a kid. Maybe my sister has them.
