Reading those words made my scalp prickle.

As if I'd felt a breeze as the recording angel flew by.

Forgive the hyperbole.

Historic moments can do that to a person.

I don't suppose I'll be writing anything about the late Queen. She was what she was. The burden passes to the next in line (why anyone would want it heaven only knows) and she can go free...

This is why I snort gently when people talk about how the monarch is so privileged. It's a bitch of a job and you're not allowed to refuse it.

And it's unique. There is nothing else in the world quite like the British monarchy. A British King or Queen belongs to a club of one- and has no peers.
