Stocking Up For Winter

poliphiloPutting the clocks back delivers a shock to the system- dumping us into winter overnight. Ailz blames it for the way she's feeling- as if her head were melting and running down her neck, she says.
I'm buying books to keep me going through the long dark evenings.
I've ordered:
Alan Garner's Treacle Walker. (Garner is 85 and we thought Boneland- his attempt to justify and rectify The Weirdstone of Brisingamen which he'd come to despise- was almost certainly his swansong. I love Alan Garner.)
All 5 volumes of Dolores Cannon's Convoluted Universe. (I've read them -twice- on Kindle, but they're the sort of books you want to dip into and refer back to- and nothing beats printed paper for that kind of accessibility. If there are books that better explain the universe in all its strangeness-insofar as it can be explained to us funny little critters with our limited brain power- I don't know what they are.)
These should keep me going for a while. And when I'm done with them there's Dombey and Son...
